As systems become more powerful and complex, the challenges faced by companies requiring High-Performance Computing (HPC) increase. Take heat for example: a typical HPC server can generate kilowatts of heat and if left uncontrolled, will cause the unit to rapidly overheat, fail, or cause instability when under load.

Typically, these conditions occur exactly at the wrong time such as in live sports broadcasting when there are a high number of connections to affiliates around the world and where subscriber/viewer demand is high. Or when a system experiences a high-load managing data and voice communications, resulting in network outage that causes customer dissatisfaction and the associated publicity that comes with it. It is therefore necessary to implement cooling measures that can maintain continuity even in the face of increased system demands and the heat they generate.

HG Branded Rack 1As space is generally at a premium, we tend to find that most large-scale HPC implementations are based on multiple servers mounted in racks or equipment cabinets, therefore to keep systems working reliably and avoid long-term damage, adequate power and cooling are a must. HIPER Global have been building rack-scale solutions for many years and our experienced engineers can help design and build solutions that can help keep applications running smoothly 24/7, even under high-loads.

Our engineers can discuss your application with you, helping to specify the correct server configuration, cooling, and power supply. Moreover, if the local supply is not backed-up by suitable protection or is prone to power outages, we can specify a suitable backup solution. Our range includes racks that can be used in a typical air conditioned environment or have built-in cooling systems. The advantage of cooling a sealed rack is that only the servers are being cooled and not an entire facility which could be poorly insulated and may have airborne contaminants that will clog-up filters and subsequently cause system failures.

Cabinet level installation and maintenance are made easy when the whole solution, including servers, switches, and UPS, is built by HIPER Global. Our engineers can create detailed documentation and use best practices to ensure safe, reliable, and consistent rack-scale builds. This means that when an engineer comes to install the racks on-site, detailed information can be provided to speed up commissioning and maintenance activities. If there are no facilities to install systems into the cabinet on-site, HIPER Global can ship fully built and configured cabinets.
